It is only once, recently I received the wallet , but no qc pass, I rang QF and was accused of already using the pass, how rude, I was told nothing can be done

fly to your closest airport, a $100 flight will reward you with 800 FF points and 10 status credits. its even cheaper when they have a deal on

Toddsci: as somebody who has no credit cards, I think I get where you're coming from! A few things you can do:

1. Flying, of course - but expensive and time-consuming

2. Arm yourself with the Qantas Cash debit card and Bankwest Qantas debit card, and use these as often as you can (Qantas Cash card best for per-item spends over $10, Bankwest for under $10 – see http://www.ausbt.com.au/earning-daily-qantas-frequent-flyer-points-without-a-credit-card for more.

3. Shop via the Qantas Mall as often as possible, and be savvy as to price-match policies (eg David Jones) which can minimise the difference between prices charged by thge big stores versus smaller retailers (and use your Qantas Cash card to earn extra points into the bargain)

4. Watch for special promotions which can boost the pooints earning - eg over Christmas the Qantas Mall had double points, so David Jones was earning 10 points per dollar instead of five. I treated myself to a Sonos Play:1 speaker for Christmas so that $300 spend earned me 3000 points, plus another 1500 with the Qantas card (half-point per dollar).

It's a harder path to earn Qantas points without a premium credit card, but there are still plenty of opportunities.

Here's a clever tip if you don't have a credit card.

A friend of mine uses his Bankwest Qantas card for grocery shopping at Woolies, uses the self-serve checkout and then puts each purchase through on its own and uses the Bankwest card for tap-to-pay.

Because Bankwest card earns 5 Qantas points per transaction, this means even a $1 chocolate bar earns 5 Qantas points!

Naturally this takes some time (!!) and so he thoughtfully goes shopping late in the evening so as to not hold up other shoppers. But if your shopping tends to be a decent number of low-cost items then this approach will earn more Qantas Points than putting all the items through at once and using a Qantas Cash card which would earn only one half a point per dollar on the total amount.

When i buy fruit, especially grapes, i tend to pay per grape rather than for a bunch of grapes. I have enough for a return business class flight to Singapore after each weekly fruit shop

Strictly speaking, the most "cost-effective" way of earning QFF points is with a Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account and a pool of money on which to deposit for points accrual in lieu of interest.

Provided that you're also meeting the $2000/month deposit requirement to keep the account fee free, one could extract more value out of the points earn than the potential interest earned based on the current interest rates being offered by most banks on savings accounts.

Trouble with the BankWest Qantas transaction card, is that you have to earn a monthly income, or be able to deposit Aud$2000 per month.

Not good for a working dog like me.

But good for those working, on anything above $25000 a year, who puts all that income into the Bankwest Qantas account.
