Sydney airport hotel. Hi all. My family and I arrive into Sydney international in the evening and then have an early domestic terminal flight. We will need interconnecting hotel rooms for that night. Any recommendations?

I wouldn't look past the Rydges Sydney Airport hotel which is directly opposite the International terminal. It's the most convenient option and they do have interconnecting rooms (though you'll want to request this when booking).

They offer a free shuttle transfer to the Domestic terminal (for the earliest departures, otherwise they direct you to the Sydney Airport operated shuttle for morning shuttle departures after 7/8am). If your domestic flight is with Qantas, you can utilise the Qantas Terminal Transfer facility instead.

Agree the Rydges Sydney Airport hotel spot on, good size room, good food, nice bar and few footsteps from Int. entrance, have stayed there three times to date.

Rydges takes the biscuit here in terms of location and transport.

Agree with earlier comments - just make sure the hotel knows you need i/c rooms - and be prepared for check in to be a disorganised mess. The hotel is ideally placed but the execution of the basics by the hotel is well below standard.

I'd be more inclined to go Stamford which is closest to Domestic terminal. Less hassle in the morning.

Within walking distance?

Roughly a 10-15 min walk. Doable with luggage though maybe not with little people. The Stamford runs a regular shuttle as well which from memory is $5pp. If the weather is fine I'd walk...

BMC, by now you would know that SYDi and SYDd are quite a distance apart.

You can get the train from i to d for $5 a person, its just one stop, or all hop into a maxi taxi from i after immigration processing etc to get to Stamford SYDd Hotel.

There is a very cheap Ibis Budget SYDd Hotel very close to d terminal, no need taxi, just a straight walk, just one set of traffic light to cross.  24 hr reception, has own bathroom and toilet too.  They might have ic rooms.

The Stamford SYDd takes many traffic lights to cross.

These are just suggestions.

As others have mentioned, the Rydges is a great choice. Just across from International, Free transfers in the morning to Domestic, friendly staff and the best beds I've slept in in a long time!

Rydges have family room - stayed in it with my 2 childen last week. Really good for international, less so for domestic.
