Can anyone who has flown CX from Perth to Hong Kong with a 3hr transit time for the next flight tell me how far it usually is from arrival gate to the Pier lounge?
I do realise that it will depend on which arrival gate is used but there should be a rough idea amongst fellow travelers as to how far/ long it is. My knees are a tad sore these days so long distance takes a while longer to walk.
If it's a very long way I might need assistance but hope not to have to.
Unless you have a particular preference for the Pier (meet someone for example) I would suggest using which ever of the CX lounges is best located for your itinerary.
I have just come through HKG and the walking distance depends on your arrival gate and the security screening points. If you arrive on a 'pier' gate it is reasonably close , if you arrive on gates 1 or 15 it is about a 15 minutes walk. We arrived at gate 28 (which is right in the middle and conveniently located just opposite the security screening at gate 27) and it took about 5 - 7 minutes to walk to the Pier business lounge.
There are several transit points throughout the airport that allow you to go from arrivals (lower level) to departures (upper level) including one near to The Wing. Keep in mind that The Wing is closest to gate 63 so when you exit your flight from Perth head that way and you'll see the transit point. I'm not sure if all transit points are open all the time. If you need to use a different transit point then you will be in for a very long trip.
There are plenty of travelators and seats to help you on your way so hopefully you'll be able to make the trip without too much difficulty.

The Cabin isn't all that good - give The Cabin a miss.

RodH: you'll also want to consider the departure gate of the flight you're hopping onto, of course. And remember that three hours between flights is more like 2 hours of lounge time, allowing for making the transit from arrivals to departures levels at Hong Kong Airport (as has been said here, watch for the less-known and less-used transit channels along the main walkways from the gates rather than following everyone to the main E or W transit points).
If you happen to arrive at the opposite end of the airport to The Pier, you can always try visiting The Wing or even the Qantas lounge, if The Pier is just a bit far for you. I'd agree with skipping The Cabin.
What I am really after is for J Class passengers from Australia who have recently done the flight from Perth and what gate is used most often. Is there usually a preferred number of gates or is it totally what's available? We are a family of ten J class and as this is the trip of a lifetime we do want to try out the Pier during our 3 hr. transit. Two of us will be in wheel chairs so I guess it's just follow the Cathay assistants as they will surely know the shortest way .
Either way we will enjoy one of the lounges but would prefer the Pier! Thanks again!

Of course it will all depend on which gates we have to use. We arrive from Perth and have 3 hrs transit before catching the A350 to Vancouver . Time will tell.
Okay, I got 2 oneworld Emerald (QF Platinum One and CX Diamond) which get you access to spectacular The Pier First or cabana in The Wing First.
For business class lounge, strongly recommends The Pier Business near Gate 63 which looks like a first class lounge. If you want to enjoy some special cocktail and coffee with tarmac views, go to The Bridge near Gate 35 and mini-train station.
North America flights usually departs in Gate 1-4 or 15-19, which means you go to The Wing Business, Qantas Lounge (with oneworld boarding pass) or G16 (The renovation work should be done this year)
The timing suggests you are booked on CX136 & 838. My experience of CX 136 has been it always arrives into gates in the 1-4 area. Gate 4 a couple of weeks ago. The Hong Kong airport website provides departure gate info - 838 has been at gates 28 and 35 in the last 2 days. These are easily reached from the Pier. You can use the train to get most of the way out to the Pier from the transit area near the arrival gate. Even so, I wouldn't go to a lot of trouble to get to the Pier if the Wing turns out to be more convenient.
The Pier is the nicest, but the Bridge is a close second and the Wing is a close third. Just go to whichever is closest to your transit gate. If you arrive at gates 1-4 it is a real hike to the Pier or the Bridge, the Wing is nice enough that it isn't worth the walk. Avoid the Cabin.
I see your earlier comment that you are on the A350 (nice!). So looks like that is an additional service that connects to CX170 Perth. Haven't done that one in a while so can't say where it arrives. Provided you a not on one of the first A350s to YVR you can check out the departure gate use on the airport website.
Thanks for information GregXL and lionelhutz. This is what I was really after as it does give me a very good idea of things. We are all booked on CX 170 PER-HKG and CX 856 HKG-YVR so it does look like arriving gate 1-4 area and departing gates 28-35 . We do have 3hrs transit .and 2 of our family will be in wheel chairs so I guess the trek to the Pier would be worth it via the train. The CX staff will be operating the chairs so I guess we will just follow them as they would know the quickest way there.
Even if it takes 1/2 hr to get to the Pier we will still have a nice amount of time there. Thanks again for your input. Great forum !!!

My preference has always been The Pier, or The Wing.
Ideally, find out which gate your next onward flight is at, and go to the lounge that is closest to it.
