As Platinum with both Qantas and Virgin, no doubt Virgin have a far more consistent policy of boarding Business, Platinum and Gold first. With Qantas, the line at Priority is usually longer when boarding opens, and they board both lanes simultaneously. It is often quicker to board through the general boarding line. So in my book, Virgin is a clear winner.

If everyone had a bit of integrity no problems like this would occur. Unfortunately just the usual bogan crowd trying to play dumb to get a benefit they are not entitled to.

I have never seen it policed on a domestic leg, it seems Qantas just wants to see the flight getting boarded as quickly as possible, which often ends up with a long queue of passengers anyway on the aerobridge, people seems largely oblivious to the signs, or don't care, maybe they should process boarding passes further up the line instead of at the entrance to the aerobridge same goes for access to toilets on board, they can make all the announcements they like!

Or 50% of the people on your flights are gold+?

As soon as the business line was opened up to Gold as well as Platinum this was always going to be the outcome, especially during peak travel times between capital cities.

Plus Virgin has far fewer status travellers...

What I've noticed is most FF using the priority boarding use there Mobile phones to check in, however when doing this I find it takes on average a couple of seconds longer, and can even be more delayed when the phone isn't aligned properly or sometimes the screen goes off, and then you have to wait for the boarding pass to print, however most non FF are still using the traditional barding pass which is quicker to process.  Sometimes I find the non priority lane quicker when the lines are the same length for just that reason.

It can be hard to tell the difference between the vin ordinaire and the QF  priority lanes
On a recent trip to Cairns  via Brisbane  I couldn't see any great advantage
International  has been a lot better policed for some obscure reason
I think domestically  its just a case of getting everyone on the Plane

Virgin used to be really good with policing this, but over the months and years they had it, like QF, their main game is just to get the aircraft pushed back on time, by the quickest means possible.  Priority security lines may as well not even exist. I've never seen the policed at all, this is particularly annoying in MEL where the VA lounge is before security and the priority screening area isn't open.
