Turkish Airlines has started scheduling flights for its new Boeing 787 which has also made the seatmap available, and here is it via ExpertFlyer.

Don't pay attention to the strange 1-2-1 and 2-0-2 confg, this is just how it shows a staggered seating arrangement along the same lines as the QF Business Suites in which some window seats are closer to the window and some closer to the aisle, and some middle seats are in centre and some next to the aisle.

My take-away from this is that combined with TK's own comments about pitch and privacy they are going for a version of the Thompson Vantage XL with sliding doors, similar to Delta's new business class suites.

Turkish try really hard, lounges, catering and now aircraft - all excellent first rate carrier level but theres still something about the soft product in the air and on the round thats a little laboured and not quite 1st rate carrier level.

Watch the seatmap more closely – it's a Solstys style configuration, as seats E and F are closer together. Just imagine an aisle between columns A and D, and columns G and K.

I swear they mentioned something about a door once, so I'm guessing something along the lines of QSuite.

I agree, the Vantage XL has the middle seats always at the same proximity - look at the Qantas Boeing 787 business class cabin in this pic. The paired middle seats are just offset left and right in alternate rows but you don't get the same 'honeymoon / divorce' configuration as other forms of staggered seating.

I've flown TK short and medium haul a lot. I've always been very impressed. However, IST has gone from being one of my favourite, to one of my least favourite airports due to massive growth over the 10 years I've been travelling there. The TK lounges are huge but rampantly overcrowded.

Only one more day until the the new airport though! That should improve things greatly.

I know what you mean. I have flown them in Economy and Business. In Economy the service is sometimes bordering on agressive and rude as well. This also applies on the ground in Turkey. In Business they try harder and can be ok but it's still the cultural gap which comes from having an all Turkish crew vs the international crews of the Middle East 3. The IST louge is excellent and I understand the new airport will enhance that, especially for premium passengers with seperate services just for Business Class.

I hope they do something wow for J class on the 787 but understand it won't be retro-fitted to the 777s and A330s.
