Qantas expects the new wing of its Los Angeles Business Lounge to open in early May, adding space for an extra 200 passengers as well as a dedicated dining area.
The original date was pencilled in for late 2014, however the December opening of the Qantas Los Angeles First lounge proved an immediate remedy to the over-crowding which had seen some Qantas Club members turned away during busy periods.
The Qantas business lounge – which is shared by Oneworld partners British Airways and Cathay Pacific – will have a new commercial grade kitchen preparing a substantially wider range of meals including a ‘plate of the day’, similar to what's already seen in Qantas' Singapore and Hong Kong lounges.
There'll also be an enhanced buffet, although the popular food carts will remain for a touch of local colour.
Additional shower suites, a family zone plus a business zone with six desktop computers will complete the LA business lounge experience.

Well, Qantas has hinted that Brisbane and Auckland Intl lounges are being evaluated for an overhaul - which IMHO is some 4-5 years behind schedule.
I'd even appreciate a food overhaul in these lounges - I know we get mini meat pies and occassionally BBQ chicken wings, and soup - but when you compare that to the EK offering...

I guess Qantas wants you to think exactly that, to go to EK lounges not Qantas, I can kinda see why it's 4-5 years behind.

I was one of those highly regarded Qantas Club Members who was pushed out on to the concourse, ask me how special I felt then !!!!!!! I did get very well compensated after a little note to Qantas !
