Aer Lingus launches 'AerSpace' business class on European flights

Aer Lingus is adding business class to its regional flights within the UK and Europe, but predictably taking a leaf from the playbook of sibling British Airways.

Available from  September 1 2019, the Irish carrier's AerSpace falls into the same Euro-business category as BA's Club Europe: the same seat as in economy class, only with the middle seat in that 3-3 layout kept empty.

In that regard, AerSpace is nothing like Aer Lingus' forthcoming international-grade business class which will feature on its Airbus A321LR jets offering fully-flat beds and, for some passengers, a throne seat with direct aisle access.

Aer Lingus plans to fly many A321LR jets from Dublin to key European cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona, giving some savvy travellers the ability to enjoy a real business class on those short routes.

The alternative on Aer Lingus older single-aisle Airbus jets will be AerSpace, with the rest of this Euro-business option including lounge access, fast-track through security, priority boarding, reserved access to overhead luggage bins, and complimentary food and drink.

In a nod to the busy schedule of business travellers, Aer Lingus says that Aer Space bookings will also come with  free changes and refunds plus automatic standby to shift onto an earlier flight.

LCC Aer Lingus is effectively over, gone full circle back to where it once was - with lower costs.

I just want to be able to use the holding Companies [BA] Avios on Aer Lingus. Would also like them to join OneWorld instead of being a Stand Alone Non-Alliance Airline
