Need to earn 50 Velocity status credits to retain Virgin Gold status

I need 50 SC to retain Gold in Velocity, any suggestions??

But seriously, this is the only way you can earn SCs and it all comes down to

• Where you live. Your profile indicates Melbourne, so that's a start.
• What are the best routes available from Melbourne to earn 50SCs at minimal cost. You can check the VA website and do those sums.
• How much you are willing to spend. Different fare types earn different amounts of SCs so take that into consideration when looking at the above.
• How much Gold status is 'worth' to you. It's the cost of that flying to retain Gold vs the 'perks' such as another year of lounge access.

One way business class on Virgin Australia to Auckland (Take the Air NZ 777 flight if you can.) That gets you 60 VA Status Credits. Then get a cheap economy ticket on the way home... Sorted!

I bought a discount business class single from MEL-ADL last week for $379, this gets 40 SC.  This was for travel on a Sunday at the end of this month. Get a cheap economy return for $150 and that nets you the other 10 to get you to the required 50.

Lounge access can be bought for $300 if you are silver (as I understand it), not sure Gold is much more valuable than Silver with lounge access??

Purchased Lounge access doesn't grant access to international lounges when codesharing, only Virgin Domestic and AirNZ
