What do you rate as the worst Australian airport when it comes to baggage handling?

Melbourne! Especially if you’re unlucky enough to have any oversized baggage...

Townsville followed closely by Darwin, average 20 mins plus to get bags off, considering both are small airports it is hard to think of any reason why it takes so long.

In Melbourne, it can take twenty minutes for the baggage carousel to even start moving.

Melbourne...!!!

Returned from DPS on 21Mar with JQ Jclass. 45minutes to collect my bag and 15mins to get the Taxi controller to organise (Ha..Ha.) for a taxi.
Pathetic service at MEL.

It may not be THE worst but Gold Coast is definitely one of the worst. The baggage area is a big mess and so over crowded all the time. Last time it took me 40 mins to get the bag. on a QF flight from Mel. they decided to change the belt without updating the screen or making any announcements. As a result the belt where bags were actually loaded was overflowing and lots of luggage just dropped off the belt onto the floor. This was like just before the Comm game.

Melbourne T4, which I haven't used for more than a year, is the pits. Far worse than Sydney, Gold Coast or Perth.

I thought it was Newcastle which has two baggage blokes covering five flights that all arrive at the same time around 9-9.30. They've even got a guy selling gelato to the punters while waiting for the bags. Then I visited the Gold Coast...

Another for Melbourne as the worst by far. Adelaide the best for me.

Newcastle has a bloke selling gelato to punters waiting for their bags? I think it's high time Melbourne introduced a food court in the international baggage reclaim hall so you can sit down and have a hot breakfast while your bags thaw on the tarmac all morning.

Perth. Only one set of baggage handlers at T1 precinct in the evenings. Had to wait over an hour for bags to come off QF from SIN while they were busy loading up SA to Jo'burg, CX to HKG and VA red-eyes.

Bags tagged business priority were left in the rain for an hour, and of course came out last!

(oh and stand in queue while one quarantine officer reads everyone's immigration cards - don't get me started on that!!)

Melbourne the slowest... and they like to all come out on the same carousel, for two flights at the same time, even when there's other carousels available... Adelaide is the best for me.
