With OEB retired and yesterday EBG finally went in for refurb Brisbane it is now the end of Mk1 Skybed. Thank goodness!

Just to think, only a few years ago they were going to install "European" Business class on all the A330.... Well done QF!

Got to admit. Of all the redeye flights I've done PER-MEL, the best sleep I got was on the 330 with the Skybeds. Maybe because I was so dreading it that I put no pressure on myself to sleep. Or maybe it was all the wine I had beforehand :P

I think competitive pressure from VA may have helped in this respect ...

Wow, this almost makes me feel old. I remember when the Skybed first came out and was discussed in hushed tones... And the jealously when a colleague actually got to travel on it!

Euro Business is far worse than the international Premium 2x3x2 product that QF installed on some of the 330s

Oooh! But I feel nostalgic for those beautiful old First Class seats in the nose. [sighs deeply]

Skybeds may have had a slight slope, but you weren't hemmed in as per the 787 and A330 claustrophobic flat beds. I have to raise the head to get any form of comfort down in the dungeon.
