I've got a trip coming up to Santiago in May 2020 on a Qantas 747. It was booked on a LATAM ticket so I couldn't allocate seats, however after speaking with Qantas, they've advised they have allocated seats 17A and 17B on the upper deck.
When looking at the seat map on Qantas, it doesn't show a row 17 on the map?
I'm fairly certain the old "four class" (where the old First Class cabin is sold as Business Class) version of the 747-400 had row 17 upstairs. However, correct me if I'm wrong but I think all of these older aircraft have now been retired?

They have all been retired. Its only the 6 3 class 744 ER's left.
We are in 16J and 16K for Syd-Vyr on a 747 late December. There is no row 17 upstairs or downstairs on the 747. Suggest calling qantas back, because what you have been told is not possible.
Interestingly, when I do a dummy booking on the Qantas site for the same flight, it only shows the upper deck going to row 16 (the same seat map their website shows under 'fleet', however when I search on Seat Guru for the flight and date, it shows a seat map with the upper deck going to row 18.
Best foe upstairs is 14. I like 14K(window) as it's an exit row with heaps of walk around space plus the added storage of the under window storage bins.

QF call centre says they exist, however the seat maps show for the remaining 747's in the QF fleet do not have this row. Has anyone had any experience with this or gotten to the bottom of what happens at check in?
I used love 14A or 14K in the "olden days". It was the exit row so you had a mile of space in front of you. Now I travel on the lower deck, hopefully in my "favourite seat" there (for the last time). I have to carry my luggage when climbing the stairs (I did in the past, too), but when age wearies one, one must NOT rely on the kindness of a "big strong chap". He has his own stuff to tote. Oh how I'll miss the lovely spacious 747! Being squeezed into the nightmare liner from Brisbane on the way to north America is horrendous, and those claustrophobic lie-back seats - eeeeeh!

Its a block coseshare so each marketing carrier has access to a specific block of seats

Yes, I thought the 4 class 747 were all retired.
The Qantas website shows the 747 seat map, but only going to row 16 on the upper deck.

Seat Guru is often wrong. Always trust the operating airline's seat map.

I reached out to Qantas on Facebook to try and alleviate some confusion, and this is what I was told:
Hi XXXX, you can find row 17 on the seat map here: **seat guru website** . Hope this helps. Helen
