Qantas: Melbourne flights to London, Singapore to start November

Qantas will restart of international flights from Melbourne to London and Singapore in November, in line with Victoria abandoning quarantine for all fully-vaccinated travellers from November 1.

The airline says there'll initially be two return Boeing 787 flights a week between Melbourne and London starting November 6 (six weeks earlier than previously planned), ramping up to daily from December 18 2021.

In anticipation of the launch of quarantine-free travel between Australia and Singapore, Melbourne-Singapore flights will now take off from November 22, with three Airbus A330 runs per week, stepping up to daily from December 18.

Jetstar will also recommence flying four times a week between Melbourne and Singapore on its own Boeing 787, a route it hans't flown since 2019.

"It's great to see Melbourne reopening and the decision by the Victorian Government to remove quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated travellers will make it easier for people to take the trips they've been longing to take," remarked Qantas Group CEO Alan J.

The initial flights will be limited to Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families and parents, in line with Federal Government requirements.

And you know the drill: all passengers will need to be fully-vaccinated and return a negative Covid-19 PCR result from a test taken within 72 hours of their flight.

Qantas says the first three return Melbourne-London and Melbourne-Singapore services will be offered as 'Points Planes', with frequent flyers able to snap up every seat across every cabin at the low Classic Flight Reward rate of Qantas Points, in addition to those seats being available for a straight cash purchase.

Passengers who have already booked onto either of those routes based on the previous December 18 restart schedule, and who want to travel earlier, can make a fee-free date change to their flight through the Manage my Booking section of qantas.com (however, a fare difference may apply).

Flights from Melbourne to Los Angeles will restart as planned from December 19.

Great news...chances are I'll be heading to SIN before the end of Nov.

What are the rules about pre-travel and post-travel tests?  Will QF/Vic Govt release a list of places from where they will accept results?  As I understand it, the mass-testing sites where you get a free test and a result by text the next day won't cut it.

That is something to be chased in the place you are leaving from. I’m sure they are listed on the internet.

With SQ immediately going back to double-daily, QF's initial 3 times a week from MEL to SIN ain't going to cut it for long.

Patrickk. i am sure they are but  will they be authorised ? When NZL introduced the requirement this year they listed the accepted pathology labs they would accept  proof of negative PCR tests from. Hence why i was commenting on the details for the return trip

GSX I’m sure the internet will list who’s authorised. Most official websites are good at that sort of thing.

Due to rising cases in Singapore albeit with very low death-rate, their government has reinstituted work-from-orders from last week.  These will restrict the number of business travellers who will bother visiting across November and December.  Hopefully, this is only short-term.
