Routes Online have published information suggested QF have filed domestic services for the 787 in Nov/Dec:

Melbourne – Perth
MEL departure: QF775 Day x67, QF769 Day 7
PER departure: QF772 Day x67, QF776 Day 7

Melbourne – Sydney
MEL departure: QF442 Day 6, QF460 Day x67
SYD departure: QF439 Day 6, QF497 Day x67

Apparently still showing as an A330 but configuration is the 787.

The Saturday departure from MEL is QF422 at 1000.  QF442 is a 737

You would have thought BNE would get a domestic one considering 4 787s are being based there from mid 2018. Maybe the will change the domestic schedule to reflect this change.

We've spoken with Qantas about this earlier today - these are only 'preliminary filings' which aren't set in stone, and may change based on the airline's aircraft delivery dates with Boeing and a range of other factors.

In short, they've suggested that people who book these particular flights may end up being disappointed by the aircraft type, so if anybody is specifically seeking a Qantas Boeing 787 flight, wait until the actual aircraft type shows as the 787: not just the seatmap. :)

Oh and Chris, are you going to run an article about BNE 787's?

Nope, because there's no 'news' here for us. Once Qantas announces actual routes and dates for Boeing 787 flights from Brisbane, then it's something we'd cover. Until then, 'Queensland jobs' and 'Qantas will park planes in Brisbane' ain't an AusBT story. ;)

No. The first 787s are destined for Melbourne therefore it makes perfect sense that the first routes for this aircraft be from Melbourne. Perth is sensible as it is where the 787 will eventually fly, and Sydney too, as it is the largest market for Qantas, and it would be a shame for this aircraft to not grace SYD

After BNE maybe SYD will be next to get 787 routes if QF orders additional 787 aircraft. Presumably eventually SYD to SFO will become a daily 787 service.

By that time they will have decided yes or no on the A350 and those will likely be based in Sydney instead with the 787 staying with Brisbane/Melbourne.
Seems more logical to me. As the qf747s will be around for a while yet.

Dates may be pushed back if they don't fix the issue with the PE seats.

What "issue"?

Rumour is that the new PE seats failed one of their certification tests.

Why such the mad excitement over these aircraft?  They're hardly new models and if you want to fly one now out of Australia you can.  I'd still rather fly a 380 given the choice.
