Can you get Lifetime Platinum status in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program?
Lifetime Platinum status with Qantas remains a fervent wish of many Aussie frequent flyers, but the highest you can climb on the lifetime status scale is Gold – and Qantas has shown no intention of changing that.
And Lifetime Gold membership is pretty good: it bundles up useful perks such as airport lounge access (with Qantas and all Oneworld partner airlines), checkin at the business class desks, priority boarding, bonus frequent flyer points on Qantas flights and much more.

But all the same, upping that ante to lifetime Platinum would mean a lifetime of entry into first class lounges rather than business class or 'premium' lounges, being among the first considered for upgrades and even more bonus points on Qantas flights.
For now, the closest thing you can get to lifetime Qantas Platinum is lifetime Gold status in the British Airways Executive Club scheme.
That's because the BAEC Gold tier equates to Oneworld Emerald status, which in turn puts it on-par with Qantas Platinum.
You won't get all the benefits of Qantas Platinum status, such as those extra points or priority on upgrades – but you'll enjoy what we consider to be 'core travel perks' such as airport lounge access, priority checkin and a more generous checked baggage allowance.
Those are the things which make a real difference when you're flying.
