TRAVEL TIP | Jetting in business class on one of Qantas’ overnight flights from Perth to the east coast?
Then flash your boarding pass at the Qantas domestic business class lounges in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane for access after your flight, where you can freshen up with a shower, a barista-made coffee and a spot of breakfast to start your day.
There’s no rush to head into town either, with the Roo’s overnight flights touching down between 5:30am and 6:30am, giving you ample time to unwind before contemplating a move to your office or your own bed.
It’s also a great way to maximise your sleep on those east-bound flights – having dinner or supper on the ground at the Qantas Perth business class lounge and breakfast in the morning after you arrive.
Qantas has confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that this applies only to three overnight flights from Perth: QF568 to Sydney, QF648 to Melbourne and QF652 to Brisbane.
Qantas Platinum and Platinum One frequent flyers are the exception to that rule, who can also swing by the Qantas’ domestic lounges after their flight, be it from Perth or any other destination.
Just don’t try this after a Virgin Australia business class flight: the airline has advised that lounge access ‘on arrival’ isn’t a privilege extended to business class flyers – only to Velocity Gold and Platinum members.
