In September I am flying business class to Dallas. Already flown direct on Qantas. I want to try another route. Happy to have an overnight stay somewhere. Research shows it is possible on Emirates, Etihad, BA, AA, Korean/AA. Any other suggestions. Would prefer to bypass LAX.

How about Air New Zealand via Auckland to Houston service then quick domestic to Dallas?

I like the Korean option. They're a very solid, yet underrated airline and if you've never been to Seoul, a good way to spend a night/day.

In terms of sheer product quality - Qatar Airways should be possible, or else Etihad, Emirates or Qantas via SFO.

I'd recommend Aniljak's suggestion of Houston via AKL

Cathay Pacific to HKG and then American to DFW.

I have the advantage of time. I just need to be in Dallas at a certain date but can take time to get there. Qantas is nice and direct but their business cost seems a bit high. Airline quality and cost is the main factor. I have flown AA and their business class is a bit wanting. Air New Zealand to Houston is a possibility as I will be there for 2 months and will use a car to get to Dallas. Anyone flown that route?

It IS on the older 772, Herringbone in business, four abreast, with Aisle access for everyone.

The Business Class  product is strong, the auckland lounge makes it all worthwhile.

Air NZ has a much better product and they have the seats on sale for under $5000. How could you beat 1-2-1.

I think after Global Entry and Kiosks, transiting through LAX is not as bad as it used to be. If you have'nt tried VA, you should try it, "the business" is amazing. Otherwise, CX is incredible. Emirates, Etihad should cost you more for that route/

Flew AA business class HKG to DFW 3 weeks ago on their new 777-300, very nice indeed....so would highly recommend the CX/AA option, also flew 787 DFW to PVG business on AA, very good also, AA have clearly put some effort into product and service on these new aircraft

If time is not an issue then CX is pretty good. I do the Dallas run monthly and it's pretty painless with QF. Like many LAX is a maze unlike DFW as port of entry.
