Qantas to axe flights to London via Hong Kong, Bangkok this week

Qantas will axe all flights from Hong Kong and Bangkok to London this Sunday, March 25, as part of the airline's efforts to scale back operations and claw back revenue on its loss-making international service.
The move will leave Qantas with only two daily services on the Kangaroo Route between Australia and London, both of which will fly via Singapore.
Travellers booked to fly with Qantas to London via Hong Kong (QF29/30) or Bangkok (QF1/2) beyond this weekend will see the longer trans-European leg of their journey made on a codeshare British Airways flight.
Another option for HK is the all-business class Hong Kong Airlines service to London's Gatwick Airport, which can be partnered with Qantas flights from Australia to Hong Kong for a round-trip Australia-UK fare of $3,520.
Qantas recently upgraded its daily Sydney-Hong Kong service with an Airbus A380 for four days of the week (Thursday to Sunday), retaining the Boeing 747-400 for the remaining three days.
Choosing the best BA connection from Hong Kong
British Airways has three London services out of Hong Kong but you'll find the 13 hour journey can be significantly more private, restful and productive if you choose the right flight.
We recommend the daily BA25, which uses a Boeing 747-400, so you can get a business class seat on the upper deck. This more private cabin offers storage bins by the window seats and no middle seats.

New flight numbers
This weekend's shuttering of the Red Roo's Hong Kong-London services will also see a renumbering of some flights.
Qantas' flagship Sydney-Singapore-London Airbus A380 service will be renumbered from QF31 to QF1, with the return leg shifting from QF32 to QF2.
The Sydney-Bangkok Boeing 747 service will be rechristened as QF23/QF24.

HI There Regarding HKG airlines to LGW, is that Club PREMIER or Club CLASSIC and where might I book such a service? QF do not show LGW as a destination in their booking engine. Thanks,, Stephen
