Qantas extends 'free first class upgrades to London' deal

London-bound travellers have another shot at a free first class upgrade with Qantas extending its ‘Buy Business, Get First in one direction’ offer until the end of August.

That means there’s still time to chalk out your next trip to the British capital – paying for a return business class airfare but actually spending half of the journey in first class.

As an added bonus, travellers also earn Qantas Points and status credits at the first class rates on your free upgrade, which is sure to keep that shiny frequent flyer card in your wallet for another year.

For a Platinum frequent flyer, the points earned on the voyage would actually cover a second upgrade to first class on the same trip, as Australian Business Traveller has previously revealed.

(When you use those points to upgrade on the return leg, points and status credits come as per your original business class fare – only upgrades through this promotion earn at the first class rates.)

To enjoy this great ‘freebie’, you’ll need to book by 11:59pm on August 31 2014 for travel until January 30 2015.

Sydney travellers can make their London trek on QF1/QF2, while Melbourne flyers can jump on QF9/QF10, which all transit Dubai.

That means you’ll actually get two first class upgrades per booking – either Australia to Dubai and Dubai to London, or the same in reverse.

Free first class upgrades are also available to both Hong Kong and Dallas/Forth Worth, so wherever you’re headed, here’s how it’s done.

There still is a decent jump in quality going from QF J to QF F, particularly in terms of personal space, F&B, etc. I don't think QF J has narrowed the gap that much, more that less corporates willing to pay for their employees to travel F.
