Experience all the new Qantas App features

Qantas flyers will be familiar with the airline’s smartphone app, but now the airline with the Flying Kangaroo has released an updated version, promising more features  to improve every step of your journey, rather than just your flight.

Starting before you’ve even left home, you can use the new Qantas App not only to book your Qantas flights, but also hotels, hire cars and travel insurance, plus local transfers and activities. The upside of this is you have all your travel information in the same place for quick reference.

On the day of your journey, you’ll be able to get directions to the airport, check your flight status and see lounge information (if applicable) – all from the app.

For domestic flights, you’ll be able to check-in via the app, and save your boarding pass within the app or in your Apple Wallet.

Then, if there’s any delays or changes to the flight you’ll even get pinged directly to your device – in our experience, this usually happens a few minutes before even the gate agents announce changes, which can be handy when you need to rebook or make alternative arrangements quickly.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members can see their Qantas Points activity and keep track of their Status Credits and tier progress, so you can see exactly how far off from earning that Platinum One status you are. Plus you can now view the past 12 months of your points activity.

In addition to the complimentary mobile newspaper and magazine access with the PressReader app’s functionality, you’re able to view the inflight entertainment options on your journey – handy if you’re a frequent traveller and you need to know whether to load up content on your own device if you’ve been through that month’s catalogue of entertainment already.

Within the new app, there’s an option to browse movie titles and then stream content to your mobile device in conjunction with the standalone Qantas Entertainment app.

The new Qantas App also offers up a personalised feed, with shopping, offers and inspirational articles customised to your interests, including information on where to stay and dine, plus local activities at your destination.

The personalised feed takes note of content that you like or dislike, so over time it becomes even more intuitive as to what recommendations you prefer.

Taking on a much more ambitious role than its previous iterations, the new Qantas App is aiming to be your full journey companion.

With travel bookings, entertainment guides and personalised content the new app is much more than just a place to store your flight info. You can download the new Qantas App here.
